PHALAPHALA FM presenter and producer, Murendeni Muhali did her last show on Friday as she was recently promoted to bulletin editor, becoming the youngest editor at Phalaphala FM at the age of 30.
As a bulletin editor, Muhali will be responsible for sourcing, providing and editing quality news bulletins that are suitable for radio audiences, reflecting stories that are relevant both locally and internationally. She will ensure the station, through its bulletin offer, attracts and retains different kinds of audiences.
A bachelor of economics graduate, Muhali joined the SABC six years ago.
She said her initial dream was to study drama.
“When my dream could not be realised due to some circumstances, I had to consider the option of studying towards my current degree, but the love of radio was just unshakeable,” she said.
Muhali’s radio career started at Univen Radio while studying at the University of Venda.
“I am very excited about my new position, and have been preparing for it for some time now,” she said.
She also holds a certificate in business communication and a certificate in management principles for first-line managers, both with the University of South Africa.
“I am currently registered for a couple of economics modules for non-degree purposes in order to have more understanding of the political, social and economic landscape.”
She promises to ensure the news team continues to provide quality news to the listeners.
