POLOKWANE – The Westenburg police need the community’s help in resolving two matters that they are investigating; both incidents occurred in the first week of this month.
In the first incident, the police are looking for the family of an unknown man who has been unconscious at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital since January 1. The man was in a motor vehicle accident on the Mogwadi road in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, said the man’s vehicle, a grey Toyota Conquest, and another sedan collided and the driver of the other vehicle died on the scene. “No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported,” Mashiane said.

In the other incident, the Westenburg police are investigating a murder case after a 23-year-old man was killed in Ladanna. The incident happened at about 22:00 on January 3.
According to Mashiane, the man is originally from the Eastern Cape and was working in Polokwane for a few days. He and some of his colleagues rented a place in Ladanna.
“It is alleged that the man and his colleagues were on their way home from work when they were approached by a group of unknown men. The victim and his colleagues ran away from the group, but the victim was caught.
“The rest of the men ran for help, but when they returned found their colleague with head injuries in a pool of blood.
“He was certified dead on the scene. No one has been arrested yet,” Mashiane said.
