LIMPOPO – THE Bolobedu police discovered a small dagga plantation and arrested two suspects in Ga-Matipane village in Bolobedu on Thursday.
The dagga plants were found in a maize field in the backyard of the home of one of the suspects.
Tzaneen cluster police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, said following the discovery of the dagga plantation they searched the houses belonging to the two suspects and found bags of dagga. “The estimated street value of the dagga plantation and the processed dagga is thought to be somewhere around R100 000,”Ngoepe said. He applauded residents for providing the police with information which led to the discovery of the dagga and the arrests of the two suspects.
The suspects were remanded in police custody on Friday when they appeared before the Bolobedu magistrate’s court on charges of cultivating and dealing in dagga. They were due to appear for a bail application this week.
