Feeding young minds

Albany, together with Shoprite, will visit selected schools in Limpopo and Mpumalanga over a three-day period as part of the Albany School Donations Campaign.

ONE of the key focus areas for Albany Bakeries is to assist in educating learners throughout the country in any way possible.

With this in mind, Albany, together with Shoprite, will visit selected schools in Limpopo and Mpumalanga over a three-day period as part of the Albany School Donations Campaign.

The campaign aims to donate much needed learning material and facilities as per schools’ wish lists.

Mzimhlophe Primary School (Limpopo), Sinetjudu Primary School (Mpumalanga), Hlomanani Secondary School (Mpumalanga), Thandulwazi Primary School (Mpumalanga), Magaduzela Primary School (Mpumalanga) and Motwaneng Primary School (Mpumalanga) are the schools that will be visited by Albany Bakeries and the Shoprite Soup Kitchen from March 10 until April.

Albany Bakeries will donate Albany superior white and brown bread, projectors, classroom chairs and dictionaries during their visit to the schools, while the Shoprite Soup Kitchen will serve the learners soup and Albany bread.

“The learners are a real example to all of us. Most of them are underprivileged, come from impoverished backgrounds lacking in even the essential resources. However, they have not let this stop them from going forward with their lives,” says Sonelle de Villiers, Albany brand manager.

“The Albany bread and soup were greatly appreciated by the learners, teachers, and food handlers in past school visits and we hope that we will achieve great feedback with the upcoming visits,” says Helena Yssel, sales manager at the Albany Pretoria bakery, who also manages the Shoprite Soup Kitchen on behalf of Albany.

“It will be a wonderful three days of people coming together to help make a difference in the lives of the children and their families.

“Albany is proud to have the opportunity to play a role in helping families rebuild their lives and create a better future for the children of the community,” concludes de Villiers.
