Mitchell House College learners have done very well this year as far as sport is concerned.

POLOKWANE – Mitchell House College learners have done very well this year as far as sport is concerned.

Lebogang Mabitsela and Tumi Mahloko represented Mitchell House and the region at the Limpopo Athletics competition at the University of Limpopo on Saturday March 21. Tumi was crowned the fastest 400 m runner in the province and will represent Mitchell House College and Limpopo at the athletics championship in Bloemfontein from April 9 to April 11.

Other sport that learners took part in included the Ebenezer Mile swim, horse riding, provincial swimming and athletics.

On Friday March 20, Kgola Khunou and Davon Smit participated in the South African Junior Athletics Championships in Germiston, Johannesburg.

Kgola came fifth in the 100 m sprints and third in the 100 m relay and Davon Smit came seventh in high jump.

Nazmira Bhyat participated in the second round of the South African National Equestrian Schools Association Limpopo regional qualifiers at Blouberg Ryskool in Vivo, for the national championship (Schools Equestrian Horse Riding). She participated in five events namely two show jumping events and came second, two dressage events and came fourth and one equitation event and came third. There are four rounds and the national event will take place in Culllinan, Pretoria at the Misty Meadows Equestrian Centre in September. Riders are chosen for provincial teams based on their performance in the qualifiers.

Five of Mitchell House’s learners, together with teachers Kerry Spratt and Ginnel Kemp swam in the Ebenezer Mile on March 15.

Mudathir Cassim completed the mile in 40 minutes, Etienne Grobbelaar completed the mile in 35 minutes, Mahlako Tladi completed the mile in 34 minutes and Husnaa Dada completed the mile in 44 minutes. Dylan Carlson completed the mile in 40 minutes, Ginnel completed the mile in 28 minutes, Etienne Grobbelaar completed the mile in 35 minutes and Kerry completed the mile in 38 minutes.

Mahlako is part of the provincial swimming team and represented the school and Limpopo at the national level one swimming competitions at Ellis Park this week.
