Heavy N1 South traffic expected as long weekend ends

Motorists travelling on the N1 South are being urged to plan ahead and prepare for heavy congestion tomorrow, August 10, as long weekend traffic returns to Limpopo.
38 000 vehicles expected to return south
Based on northbound traffic counts recorded between August 7 and 8, authorities estimate around 38 000 vehicles will make the return journey southbound. Peak congestion is expected between 08:00 and 22:00, with long queues likely at both the Kranskop and Nylplaza tollgates.
Free flow already activated over the weekend
Kranskop Plaza’s northbound lanes were opened to free flow twice on Friday due to high traffic volumes – a sign that similarly heavy congestion can be expected southbound tomorrow.
Law enforcement on standby along major routes
Traffic and law enforcement officers will be stationed at major routes and toll plazas throughout the day to respond to any incidents and help keep traffic moving safely.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips in advance, leave earlier where possible, and remain patient on the road.
