Hijacked Land Cruiser found abandoned in Limpopo River

A stolen R700 000 Toyota Land Cruiser was recovered abandoned in the Limpopo River after the victim was dropped at a nearby Tshamutumbu farm in the Vhembe District.

LIMPOPO – Police in Tshamutumbu, Vhembe District, have launched an investigation following a carjacking and kidnapping incident at a farm in the area on Saturday, August 8.

Armed suspects force victim into vehicle

It is alleged that at around 11:30, the victim was working on the farm when he was approached by four unknown suspects, reportedly armed with a firearm and a knife.

The suspects allegedly demanded the victim’s vehicle before forcing him into the loading area and covering his face, then driving off with him still inside.

Victim dropped near Limpopo River

The victim was later dropped off at another farm near the Limpopo River, while the suspects continued on in the stolen vehicle – a white Toyota Land Cruiser valued at approximately R700 000.

Vehicle recovered abandoned in river

The vehicle was subsequently recovered abandoned in the middle of the Limpopo River, with its battery and spare wheel missing.

Police appeal for information
