LIMPOPO – A BOGUS prophet is behind bars in the holding cells at the Seshego police station, after several women laid rape charges against him.
Motlatsi Korolozi (33), who is originally from Taung village in North West, allegedly preyed on desperate women wanting to be cured of bad luck.
He was arrested in mid-March, and will have to answer to five charges of rape. Korolozi appeared before the Seshego magistrate’s court and was denied bail three times, and was expected to return to court on Friday, April 17.
According to Seshego police spokesperson, WO Mothemane Malefo, Korolozi lied to desperate women that they would be cured of bad luck if they slept with him. His alleged victims were from Seshego, Makgofe, Blood River and Mmotong.
Korolozi was renting a room in Seshego zone 3. He pretended to be a healing prophet and his female “clients” visited him to drink holy tea in the belief that they would be healed, Malefo said.
The women, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that they had voluntarily slept with the bogus priest, believing his claim that sex with him would cure them.
“I was desperate. He told me that he possessed healing powers through sexual intercourse. He told me that a tokoloshi had been haunting me for many years and that the only way to chase it away was through sexual intercourse. As I was desperate to be healed after a long spell of bad luck, I slept with him. I later realised that this was an evil trick to sleep with desperate women. I was so distraught after realising that I was not the only woman to have fallen for his dirty tricks. What is even more worrying is that he might have infected us with sexually transmitted infections,” one of the alleged victims told CV.
