Mokopane police condemn threats

"The management of the police would like to condemn social network threats, we have taken the matter into consideration and people can and will be arrested for intimidation when making these threats."

MOKOPANE – “IT has come to the attention of the police that people are intimidating each other via different forms of communication, social networks are buzzing with statements by people alerting others that their businesses should not open, that different modes of transport are not operating, learners should not attend school and that people should rather stay at home instead of going to work, due to safety concerns with regards to ‘violence’,” said Cost Mmadikgale Masingi, spokesperson for the Mokopane police, in a media statement.

“The management of the police would like to condemn these threats as we have taken the matter into consideration and people can and will be arrested for intimidation when making these threats.

“We as members of the police are ready to protect, serve and assist members of the community and their inhabitants,” reported Masingi.

Masingi stated that they are aware of the fact that there are suspects robbing people by touching or applying them with muti, causing them to lose focus and rob them, they are also aware of suspects misusing the SAPS police badge to steal from people.

The community should inform the Mokopane police if any of the above mentioned incidents happen to any resident, and culprits who impersonate police officials will be arrested, she said.
