Joyce’s clients the who’s who of SA

LIMPOPO – IT TAKES true courage to harness your entrepreneurial spirit and start your own business.

For Joyce Nemavhola, it was her eldest child’s desire to go to university that motivated her to take the plunge. The start-up to her business was a R4 000 loan from her sister and a few leather jackets.

The business soon developed thanks to a thorough understanding of her clients and a new-found passion for fashion.

In 2006 Nemavhola opened Mudaps Boutique in Thohoyandou.

Here she sells upmarket clothing which she personally sources on her travels to Bangkok.

Her clients include members of parliament, ministers and women looking for an outfit for a special occasion.

In 2013, her boutique fell on hard times and she did not have the required capital required to purchase stock on her quarterly trip overseas.

It was at this point that she applied for a low interest loan through the De Beers Zimele Business Hub.

“Their assistance meant a lot to me. It helped me to uplift myself, purchase stock and expand my shop,” Nemavhola said.

Before starting her own business she had never left South Africa, flown on a plane or stayed in a hotel. Through a strong business model, perseverance and a good partnership with the De Beers Zimele Business Hub she has changed her life for the better.

“She embodies the raw potential of South Africans and proves that you don’t need a college education or a wealthy background to make it in the business world.

“At De Beers Zimele we take great pleasure in giving entrepreneurs and business owners such as her a helping hand and supporting them as they take their business to the next level.” De Beers Zimele Business Hub manager, Stanley Boloko, said.
