LIMPOPO – A SEKHUKHUNE businessman is fighting for his life following a gruesome arson attack that almost claimed his life.
The incident happened in Ga-Selepe village in the Mecklenburg policing area in the early hours of last Thursday after the 45-year-old shopkeeper was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by unknown assailants.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Malesela Ledwaba, said according to information, three unknown men pounced on the shopkeeper while he was still asleep and robbed him. “They then poured a flammable substance over him and set him alight. He sustained severe burns and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital,” he said, adding that neither the businessman nor the hospital could be named in the interest of the victim’s safety.
