Mankweng to get its share of the 2015/16 IDP budget

Polokwane mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, said the municipality would used the available resources meaningfully and would ensure the little that was allocated was shared effectively across all the wards within the municipality.

LIMPOPO – SOME R4 million has been set aside for the installation of nine high mast lights, three of which will be installed in the Mankweng cluster at Mashemong, Ga-Magowa and Unit F.

This was announced during the municipal consultation on the draft 2015/16 IDP budget held in the Makweng community hall recently.

Polokwane mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, said the municipality would used the available resources meaningfully and would ensure the little that was allocated was shared effectively across all the wards within the municipality.

Nkadimeng said six areas out of 24 were currently at various stages of receiving electricity from the municipal budget.

“Fourteen of these areas are being funded from a loan received from the Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA). Out of the 14, two could not be electrified due to Telkom’s lack of capacity to connect. Capacity is currently being built to ensure electrification in the 2015/16 financial year,” she said.

R1,2 million is also budgeted for maintenance of cemeteries in the city, Mankweng, Seshego, and Sebayeng in the 2015/16 financial year.

“The municipality comes up with categories and determining market values of properties as per the Municipal Property Rates Act (MPRA). The municipality has continued to distribute information leaflets, which are still available at cluster offices. The second supplementary valuation roll is currently open for objection on issues such as categories and market value,” she explained.
