LIMPOPO – AWARD winning Limpopo businesswoman, Lillian Sebola of Mohlao Textiles Manufacturing and Decorations from Ga-Kgapane, produces jam and syrup from seeds of the moringa tree.

Sebola makes use of the bean-like seeds from the moringa tree to make her products.

She is well-known for producing marula atchar, marula jam, lemon syrup and Sepedi traditional clothing and necklaces, and was recently awarded for her outstanding work by the Greater Letaba Municipality and the University of Limpopo.

She says the award from the University of Limpopo was a result of her involvement in the agro-processing business in the Greater Letaba Municipal area.

She has employed two young people in her moringa jam production business and brings the total number of people she has employed to five.

“My aim is to have a bigger factory in order to create more jobs for local people,” she says.

According to Sebola, she started the production of moringa jam five months ago, but the product was already in demand locally and abroad a few months later. She appeals to government, especially the Greater Letaba and Mopani Municipalities to assist her in getting a bigger factory where she can expand her business and employ hundreds of poor people.

She currently sells her products at exhibitions and to local people in the township.
