POLOKWANE – IT IS said that a picture is worth a 1 000 thousand words, and this is especially true for the owners of Optix Photography Studio in Polokwane.
Ntebatse Mokone and Thabo Gwangwa, who share a passion for photography opened the studio in 2014.
The company specialises in different types of shoots, including corporate events, baby photography, product shoots, weddings and baby showers.
Asked what the biggest challenges of photography were, they say photography is expensive.
“Equipment is very expensive and we had to take out money from our own pockets to buy cameras,” says Thabo.
“We started the company with a camera each, but we made it work. It is surprising because we normally get bookings from companies outside of Limpopo.”
The duo advises entrepreneurs in this industry to always remember to take risks.
“If you do what you love, the rest will fall into place,” says Thabo. “Follow what keeps you going, you must be excited about what you do. It must be your motivation each day you wake up,” he adds.
What sets these two apart from other photographers is their non-conventional approach towards photography.
“We are not your ordinary photographers, we do not take pictures, we create images,” says Ntebatse. “Our work speaks for itself.”
