New learning area soon

Cancer patients at Pietersburg Provincial Hospital will soon have a learning area.

POLOKWANE – Cancer patients at Pietersburg Provincial Hospital will soon have a learning area.

Education is the key to success and nothing should limit anyone from learning. The patients won’t let their illness block their way to achieve their goals or to climb the ladder to success. Bobby Were says most of the children are admitted at the hospital for a long time and they miss out on school work. “We want the children to have a proper classroom, where they can be taught according to their abilities,” he says. He further says that only children that are able will be exposed to the classroom environment.

The patients will also no longer have to queue for a toilet, as the hospital will soon get a new block of toilet facilities. The construction of the facilities is still in phase one. “We extend our gratitude to the Mall of the North management for the fundraising that helped us to build the toilets and classrooms,” Were adds.

Parents of the patients voiced their opinions regarding the school. “The school will actually be convenient for our children, it will take their mind off their illness and they can be more productive. The hospital board is really doing an excellent job. These children have potential, just like other children. This is really good news and we appreciate it,” says Grace Nenzhelele.
