LIMPOPO – WITH service delivery protests taking place across the province recently, the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) is stepping up to address some of the grievances raised by the people they serve.
Protests that affected the CDM included those at Nobody near Mankweng and some parts of Zebediela.
The common concerns in these protests included access to roads and the provision of water.
In response to this, Capricorn District Mayor, Gilbert Kganyango, hosted an emergency meeting to find solutions.
Kganyago noted with concern the accelerating rate at which some of these protests occurred. He also acknowledged the response times of municipalities to grievances by residents, saying it needed to improve. He said they are hard at work making sure that the areas which are experiencing water shortages will be attended to.
“CDM is a water services authority; we completed 12 water projects in Aganang that benefited 2 700 households in the last financial year. In Blouberg, we completed 10 projects that benefited about 4 356 households,” Kganyago concluded.
