The Management of Grace and Hope Special School for intellectually Impaired Students presented certificates to students in Sewing, Woodwork, Creative Arts, Horticulture and Hospitality during their Graduation Ceremony held at Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex on Friday.
Headmaster Mabore Ngoatje said the strides the learners have made in the past years are to be proud of. “We are happy that they are finally graduating. It has been a long and fruitful journey for them. The certificates show that we are teaching our learners, they don’t just come here to school and eat and go home as perceived by some of the community members. We are empowering them with skills and the graduation ceremony bears testimony to that,” she said.

She also thanked the parents and school governing body for the support they have shown to the students thought the years. “We always sit down with staff members, parents and school governing body to find ways to strive for excellence and educate these intellectually impaired students to become better future skilled and career path orientated people in the society. We are saying we could not have done it without them,” Ngoatje said.
Kholefelo Mogola, a graduate in Hospitality, said the certificate will enable to him to apply for positions in the industry. “It was not an easy journey but I am happy to have completed the course and I think through the qualification I will be employable,” Mogola said. Daniel Mabote, Senior Manager for Inclusive Education at the Department of Education who was the guest at the event commended the staff of the school for their ensuring the student becomes better people in the society. “We must appreciate the staff of this school in zillion ways, for their fortitude.
Mabote said the graduation ceremony was testament to their potential and abilities. “We congratulate all the learners who made the occasion so special, this is a culmination their hardwork, determination and perseverance,” Mabote concluded.
