Super streak from Super boys, girls
The Sunrise Superkids boys and girls hockey teams proved yet again why they are crowned the Limpopo Provincial Champions.
MOKOPANE – The Sunrise Superkids boys and girls hockey teams kept up their winning streak after they recently challenged and won Ebenezer High School and Jakamene Primary School during the Annual Diabetes Day Tournament sponsored by Folang Medical Centre.
The Superkids teams proved yet again why they are crowned the Limpopo Provincial Champions. They are more than ready and very excited to represent Limpopo during December at the National Championships.
The Diabetes Day Tournament is an annual event that is hosted by Folang Medical Trust, to raise awareness and to promote sport to ensure a healthy lifestyle. It was attended in great numbers by the residents of Mogalakwena and even Mayor Parks Sebatjane enjoyed the festivities.
Kubiku Kubs Kozanai, a teacher at the Sunrise Primary School and hockey coach, was awarded with the prestigious Community Development Award, for the big role he played in developing hockey in the Waterberg District and in the province. Five talented players ran out for different provincial teams during the season and achieved great results.
Kwetsi Snikiwe from Ebenezer High School played for the u/15 provincial team, David Mashala, from Sunrise Primary School, played for the u/12 team, while Glen Maoto, Noah Mokonyama and Madimetja Langa from Sunrise Primary School played for the u/13 provincial teams. The u/13 team reigned as the national champions at the Inter-Provincial Championships hosted in Witbank during July with Kubiku as the head coach.
Dr Sammy Senoamadi from Folang Medical Centre, awarded Kubiku as well as these five talented players for their achievement.
“We are looking forward to developing hockey even more and to gain more participation, especially in the less advantaged schools,” said Kubiku.
