‘HPG will not stop fighting crime, but we need your help’
We need to be conscientious and prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure our loved ones survive..." - Elmari Silvestri, Marketing Manager of the Heritage Protection Group (HPG)
MOKOPANE – “I truly believe that most South Africans are totally in the dark with regard to the high rate at which violent crimes daily occurs in our country. We need to be conscientious and prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure our loved ones survive this onslaught of violence.”
These are the gripping words of Elmari Silvestri, Marketing Manager of the Heritage Protection Group (HPG).
The HPG is a specialised task team extending the arm of the police and other community watches and farming organisations in an attempt to help bring criminals to justice.
Silvestri said her eyes have opened since the start of the HPG last year.
“To my fear I quickly realised that the crime situation in our country is much worse than anyone anticipated. With my involvement in the HPG I cannot emphasize enough the importance of being alert and aware at all times.”
“To survive is the key, but first we need to close this door to lock it forever,” Silvestri said with determination.
According to a media statement by the HPG since December they have assisted the police with investigations in more than nine farm attacks, numerous house robberies, rhino poaching and carjacking’s.
Silvestri said: “The HPG is working hard to make a difference. With the HPG focusing on what the Government deems a non-priority, their swift response have led to the arrest of numerous perpetrators.”
“The HPG is stretching our borders by investigating crime in other provinces as well. We need to be clear that we cannot do this without help.”
Silvestri further said crime is threatening to overwhelm us and we can only free ourselves from this tight rope if we stand united and work together.
“We have hope for the future. The HPG will not stop fighting crime, but we need your help as we are a non-profit organization and dependent on donations.”
