Residents of Mankweng recently donated ten units of blood during a donor clinic run by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in the parking lot of Paledi Mall.
SANBS Limpopo Public Relations Officer, Dottie Pinn says the service often hosts clinics in Mankweng, especially at this specific venue.
“We saw 21 volunteers who wanted to donate blood but had to defer 11 due to medical reasons,” she said.
Pinn reminded the public that the need for blood increases as the population grows and health services improve.
One unit of blood can help up to three recipients in need of blood and blood products.
Donors must be between 16 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kg and uphold a sexually safe lifestyle.
