POLOKWANE – The school is among the top eight schools in the province after obtaining 24 bachelor, 15 diploma and 13 higher certificate passes for last year. According to School Principal, Willy Mongwe, this was the first time the school managed to receive a 100% pass rate.
Teachers received merit certificates and medals as tokens of appreciation for their efforts.
Mongwe said the school was used to obtaining a pass rate of between 80% and 90% every year but he is happy that they managed to set a new record for the school last year.
“We were all pleasantly surprised when we received the results. We expected the usual results but learners completely exceeded our expectations.
“All the teachers and learners worked hard and I would like to thank them for their dedication.
“We are aiming for another 100% pass rate this year and we want to improve on the number of bachelor passes received,” explained Mongwe.
According to Legodi, the school was named after an activist who was killed fighting for the establishment of the school in 1995. He said learners were forced to attend lessons under the trees back then.
“JH Moloto fought hard for the school so the teachers and learners should keep on making him proud by obtaining a 100% pass rate every year.
“I want to thank everyone for their hard work last year and encourage them to do so again this year,” said Legodi.
He further encouraged parents to invest in their children’s education to build a better society. He urged this year’s Gr 12 learners to focus on their studies and consult where they don’t understand the learning material so they will all be able to pass at the end of the year.
Kgabo Mokgohloa, one of the SGB members, said the school achieved a 100% pass rate for the first time in 20 years and this should be celebrated. She further said parents should join forces with the school to help ensure the learners obtain good results.
