‘Services on hold’ at Mogalakwena Muni
The Mogalakwena Municipal employees downed tools today (Friday) after a special council meeting to discuss the bench marking of salaries was postponed.
MOKOPANE – According to Percy Nketsi, representative of the Mogalakwena Municipality workers, they will only return to work if the meeting is reconvened and bench marking is implemented as agreed upon. “We will go to work on Tuesday, but services will be put on halt if the meeting does not happen.”
Nketsi was one of five employees from the Mogalakwena Municipality who appeared before the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court last Friday for public violence.
During the standstill which lasted for more than four weeks, Nketsi, along with four other municipal employees, Tshepo Mokwena, Donny Maifo, Morris Mathiane and Johannes Matlaila were charged with public violence and released on R500 bail each.
The case was postponed to 27 May in the Regional Court.
– Johannes Matlaila one of the five arrested for public violence passed away in a car accident on Saturday.
