Nic, a Citroën fan through and through
The 1946 Citroën L 15 Sedan belonging to classic car collector, Nic van Niekerk, from the Limpopo Classic Cars Club, will be one of the many classic cars on display at the World of Wheels Expo at Mall of the North from 16 to 22 May.
POLOKWANE – Van Niekerk says his Citroën model, has been in his car collection for the past 15 years. It originates from France although it was manufactured in England. This particular Citroën was produced shortly after World War II.
Van Niekerk says on the open road this L 15 Sedan averages between 80 to 96 km/h and runs on 15-inch wheels.
“According to Citroën, the L 15 Sedan is the first front wheel driven car to be produced. There are still several models like the one I own all across the world which still run like clockwork. In Limpopo there are about five models like mine in total, however, I am not sure how many there are countrywide,” says van Niekerk.
He says the cars capture the imagination and give a feeling of nostalgia and this definitely helps their popularity.
“I bought this Citroën 15 years ago and I do not regret it. It is a lovely car and an absolute joy to drive. I am a Citroën fan through and through.”
