Eight killed in N1 accident
Eight people were killed and six injured when the vehicle they were in crashed into a trailer on the N1 between Mokopane and Mookgopong on Sunday evening.
LIMPOPO – Eight people were killed and six injured when the vehicle they were in crashed into a trailer on the N1 between Mokopane and Mookgopong on Sunday evening.
On Monday the SA Traffic Authority confirmed that that eight people were killed after a minibus taxi they were travelling in hit an overturned trailer and caught alight reports the Citizen.
According to information the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) students were travelling back from a ZCC payer meeting at Moria.
The driver and seven passengers were burned inside the minibus taxi, the body of the eighth passenger was found on the ground with a severed head.
Six other students were injured and were hospitalised, said a student who was travelling in a car behind the minibus taxi when the accident occurred.
Limpopo traffic spokesman, Kaiso Mootane, said: “A Toyota Quantum hit, from the rear, an overturned trailer of a truck. The trailer was not visible”.
