‘All welcome in IFP’

"The ongoing chaos in Vuwani and surrounds is a clear example of a government who turn deaf ears on the plight of the people."

LIMPOPO – These were the words of Inkhatha Freedom Party (IFP) President, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, as he addressed IFP supporters at the Makhado Show Grounds on Saturday.

“Leaders of the ruling party are no longer ruling in a democratic style, but turned to be dictators of the people,” he lamented.

Buthelezi encouraged supporters to vote for leaders with integrity, as those who enrich themselves didn’t deserve the people’s vote.

“The local economy of Vuwani is crippled, learners suffer and tension between police and the community is running high,” he said.

“Fortunately, democracy protects people and gives them the freedom to choose their leader. Don’t waste your vote on people who steal tax payers’ money. Makhado Municipality spends R262 million per year on salaries, yet can’t repair a broken sewerage system or build houses on time.”

Some residents were approved to get houses in 2004, but the houses have not been built to date, according to Buthelezi.

“Corruption has gained a foothold in the ANC. I grew up in the ANC with former president Nelson Mandela and other veterans and they knew their goals, but what is happening now is not the ANC we know. Mandela was always considering people’s interest first, but today’s ANC puts individual interests first. The AG reports shows billions of rand going down the drain due to cadre deployment, corruption, maladministration and tender corruption. The only way is to put forth leaders of integrity.”

He also criticised the ANC for “buying votes with food parcels”.

“Apart from being a Member of Parliament, I’m also a traditional leader who cares for the people.

“Limpopo’s future will be decided on 3 August. Use your vote,” he encouraged supporters.

Limpopo IFP Spokesperson, Daniel Tlou of Tshituni Tsha-Fhasi, said the Vhembe district is intensifying the campaigns for larger membership.

“Those who believe the IFP is a Zulu party are wrong.

“It was started by pastor David Musindane who was recruited by IFP National Chairperson, Blessed Gwala. Musindane recruited pastor Reuben Masindi, bishop Gideon Ramunenyiwa Mungango and they recruited me. Tendani Tshivhula stopped renewing her ANC membership card in 2012 and joined the IFP. Now she represents the IFP Women’s Brigade in Limpopo and North West. The IFP is geared to protect culture and tradition. We want to restore the hope of people in the country. They were promised heaven and earth by the ANC and it is not happening,” Tlou said.
