Electricity for Mzombane village

Mogalakwena Mayor, Parks Sebatjane recently made the announcement that each home in Mzombane village, outside of Mokopane, will have access to prepaid electricity by March 2017.

LIMPOPO  – Mzombane village is home to more than 4000 households and over the past few years this community has fought tirelessly for their right to basic service delivery, such as the right to electricity.

After frequent meetings with the community led by Sebatjane, the Executive Mayor of the Waterberg District, Tlotlanang Mogotlane, Ward Councillor Sam Mathebula and Eskom Limpopo Provincial Spokesperson, Dikgabane Rampedi, their dream is now within reach.

According to a media statement: “The Mogalakwena Municipality and Eskom has embarked on a R30 million project to provide prepaid electricity to the community of Mozombane.

“This commitment was made by Sebatjane and Rampedi during the well attended meeting held recently at the Mozombane Sportsground.”

The community was promised that this project will be completed by March 2017.

Sebatjane said: “Supplying electricity to the settlements will enable pupils to study and do their homework at night in the comfort of their own homes, without the use of candles or paraffin lights.”

He added that their lives will change for the better thanks to the ANC led Mogalakwena Municipality and Eskom.

“Through this project, the community will be able to engage in local economic development and take advantage of the opportunities within their locality.”

Mzombane village Community Leader, Masenya Matsobane, told Bosveld: “As a community, we are excited and thankful that our plea of more than 10 years has been heard.”
