Special economic zone will contribute to job creation – MEC Sekoati

Sekoati was speaking at the launch of the first phase of the Seshego Industrial Park

LIMPOPO – The MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism in Limpopo, Seaparo Sekoati says the establishment of the Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will go a long way in assisting the province deal with some of its socio-economic challenges.  Sekoati was speaking at the launch of the first phase of the Seshego Industrial Park that was hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) yesterday (Thursday).

He added that he believed the investment of about R40 billion which is expected to be injected in the establishment of the energy and metallurgical industrial park in the SEZ will be able to alleviate some of the challenges including unemployment.

He also expressed confidence that Cabinet would favourably consider the province’s proposal for the designation of the Tubatse Special Economic Zone which will focus on the beneficiation of platinum.
