Businesses awarded for their effort
Businesses in Polokwane were awarded for their hard work and dedication during the PMR Africa Limpopo Provincial Survey Business Excellence Awards breakfast, held at Bolivia Lodge on Monday.
POLOKWANE – PMR Africa CEO, Johan Hattingh, said the purpose of the breakfast was to recognise and acknowledge business excellence.
“The main aim of the gathering was to salute and honour businesses that continue to shine. South Africa is ranked 49th in the world in a business survey conducted in 2015,” he explained.
He further said PMR Africa is excited to finally host the awards.
He added that the awards are based on research and the ratings of a random sample of respondents based in Limpopo.
The ratings are based on the perceptions of the respondents. Hattingh said, “The respondents were not prompted to rate any specific company, institute, organisation or individual. Through advertising in PMR Africa a specific audience of your choice can be targeted.”
He further encouraged business leaders to share their knowledge and skills with young entrepreneurs for businesses to continue to grow. The breakfast was attended by local government officials, including the Polokwane Municipality Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng.
She said she truly appreciates the honour to mingle with such astute business people.
She said the awards honour people who are not afraid of taking risks to ensure there is development in the province.
“I am confident that most of the companies that received certificates are led by women, which shows women are getting the credit they deserve. We salute those who create investment opportunities for businesses in our province,” Nkadimeng said.
She encouraged businesses to continue paying tax as required as the money collected is used for development projects which lure investors to the province. She added that their aim is to build a city that takes care of its people. “Polokwane is 80% rural and we strive to alleviate poverty. I would like to congratulate all the winners and I hope your achievement will inspire other companies to do their best. The future belongs to those who believe,” Nkadimeng said.
She further urged residents to continue using water and electricity wisely. She said water is a precious resource and people have to sustain it and use it effectively. Northern Media Group (NMG) was also among businesses that were recognised and acknowledged on the day. NMG was awarded a golden arrow certificate in the local newspaper category.
All winners are published in Review Weekend.
