Businesses boosted
The Polokwane Chamber of Business (PCOB) says its mandate is to support local businesses and reassure investment within the city.
POLOKWANE – It says some of its missions include facilitating a platform for business practices, to encourage entrepreneurship among residents and to provide opportunities for dialogue and partnership within the business and public sector.
According to PCOB President, Ashley Rasebotsa, they advocate the voices of people in business. He says its members are role players in the Limpopo economy and therefore they engage in relevant business issues to protect them and offer opportunities.
Rasebotsa said PCOB is open for both small and medium enterprises within the province who would like to become members. He said being a member comes with benefits such as networking with other prominent business people in the sector among other things. “The networking sessions also enhance the working relations between the chamber, its members and stakeholders,” he continued.
He adds there are activities they engage in which serve as a platform for better business practices. “We will be hosting a PCOB Golf Day on 29 September at the Polokwane Golf Club. This will give members the opportunity to interact with their clients in business.”
He said the PCOB will also host a Global Entrepreneurship Week on 22 November and hopes it will attract business owners who will sign up as members and thereby learn more about their business. “We intervene in policy making decisions to ensure that our members and their businesses are protected,” he explains.
Rasebotsa says they will host an awards gala dinner at Sun Meropa on 10 November in recognition of those who contribute to building the city’s economy.
“It is important that those who do well are honoured for their achievements. We want to encourage them to work hard while we inspire others to venture into business,” Rasebotsa said.
He says Polokwane is a growing city and when more businesses prosper, more investors will be attracted to the city.
“We also host rural business workshops to help small business to get accreditation among other things,” he explained.
He encourages the public to participate in the PCOB activities. For any enquiries, contact Faith Mogogwa at 084 098 8755 or e-mail admin@pcob.co.za.
