Groblersdal Police and community work together to achieve success

Groblerdal Police Station is number one when it comes to fighting crime

GROBLERSDAL – The Groblersdal Police Station was ranked the best in Limpopo and South Africa following an assessment of its performance for the month of July.

Col Patrick Makgopa, Groblersdal Police Station Acting Commander, said everyone at the station is elated with the news. They attribute their achievement of being the number one station in the country to good working relations with surrounding communities.

“The recognition means we are doing what is expected of us. We mostly want to thank our communities for the good working relationship we have with them. We work well together which has led to this great achievement,” Makgopa commented.

Makgopa further encouraged communities to continue, not only reporting crimes but assisting them in preventing crimes before they happen.

“Residents know what is going on in their communities and should continue to provide information to police. If we continue working together, together we will curb the scourge of crime,” added Makgopa.

Stan Magaela, Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, said their achievement resulted from the South African Police Services’ (SAPS) monthly evaluation of its stations. “All police stations are evaluated on their monthly performance by comparing crime statistics and the results showed we were the most improved station,” Magaela explained.
