Mall of the North on Friday and Saturday hosted a special ‘Spring into Health’ exhibition where shoppers could stop by to learn more about healthy living.
“Spring means new beginnings and outdoor weather. For many people it is important to get fit and healthy and back into shape after winter. That is why we decided to host a campaign where people could be motivated and get all the information needed to get into shape under one roof. We also wanted to put the spotlight on local health institutions and give them the opportunity to get more exposure on their services and products,” says Mari Delport, Mall of the North Marketing Manager.
The exhibition included optometrist practice Vision Works to answer all eye related questions as well as an audiologist who handed out vouchers for customers to have their hearing tested. A local gym’s exhibition inspired shoppers to get into shape and signed up interested parties. There was also an impressive display of herbal products that promises great health benefits.
Dis-Chem displayed health foods, protein powders and other nutritional aids to help people achieve their ideal bodies. The Dis-Chem clinic personnel were also on hand on Friday to take people’s blood pressure and to test their blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Local podiatrist Linda Birkenstock manned a stall with shoes that are specially designed to correct foot and possible resulting posture problems. She was also on hand to explain to visitors how they could better take care of their feet.
A reflexologist gave free hand massages and pointers on how to stay healthy, while a company that focuses on facial care offered clients free facials, using their product.
Johannah Mbulaheni, who received a free facial, said the exhibition was a great idea as it opened her eyes to the possibilities out there. “It is not as difficult to live a healthy lifestyle as I thought,” she said.
