A beacon of light for the youth
Reabetswe wants to inspire the youth to develop their talent and skills to become successful adults
POLOKWANE – The young and dynamic 26-year-old Reabetswe Molapo is the definition of a go-getter.
Reabetswe grew up in Kwa-Thema in Gauteng and her family later moved to Polokwane when her mother found employment in the city. She studied chartered accounting at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and while at university, she got involved with several societies which nurtured her passion for helping the community.
She joined the Black Management Forum, InvestSoc (Young Women in Finance) and UCT Radio.
A few years ago, Reabetswe started an informal non-profit organisation, Yung Heirz, dedicated to providing assistance to the youth.
“Yung Heirz took shape in 2011 during my gap year and was officially registered in 2013. I wanted to assist in the creation of mindset development programmes focused on the youth,” she explains.
Yung Heirz has made a number of strides in impacting the youth. They have partnered with ICan Maxwell in leadership and entrepreneurship training for the youth, partnered with Curro Holdings and ICan Foundation to tour to schools in SA to promote entrepreneurship and also with the Limpopo First Lady’s trust in their sanitary towel drive.
Despite being young, Reabetswe has several accolades to her name. This includes the Business Women’s Achiever Award for Social Entrepreneurship in 2014, she was a top nine national finalist in the Young Community Shaper Competition SA 2016 and Ester Women in the Kingdom nominee in 2016. She has even appeared on national television when she was invited to join the show SABC 1 show, Shift.
Going forward, Reabetswe not only wants to make a difference in Limpopo but the whole country. One of her goals is to help build and form a more proactive youth.
