An illegal opening of a man hole by car washers in the city.
POLOKWANE – Illegal car washers have now found a new way to get the water they need for their business to function at a shopping center in Hans van Rensburg street.
The car washers now open manholes which gives them access to water pipes and meters. This is done through vandalism or they open just enough to have a steady flow of water to be scooped up with a tin.
Motorists get their cars washed, illegal car washers go on with their business and shop owners are left with hefty water bills at the end of every month.
“This is our only income. We have the right to make money and this is what we have chosen to do.” Simon Bulala a car washer told Review.
Review reported the matter to the municipality for investigation. Motorists are urged not to support any illegal activities and have their vehicles washed at a registered car wash.
