1.Playing a musical instrument.
Singer/ songwriter Lourense Erasmus enjoys playing his guitar and even gives lessons.
“Instead of spending your time playing fake guitar on Guitar Hero, learn how to play the real thing. It’s a skill that will provide you and those around you with years of enjoyment,” he says.
2.Woodworking.
Get your tools out and get your hands dirty with woodwork. In addition to giving you a useful skill, many woodworking hobbyists report lower stress levels and increased patience.

3. Classic Car Restoration.
You learn a bit about engineering, improve your problem solving skills, and experience the sweet feeling of success when the engine you rebuilt purrs like a kitten. Be warned: car restoration is an expensive hobby as you not only have to buy the car you want to restore, but you’ll need the tools, space, and custom parts to finish the job.
1. Writing.
Writing is a great hobby for countless reasons. Whether you enjoy writing novels, short stories, flash fiction, articles and everything inbetween, writing is a great way to express yourself. It sets your imagination to work and can keep you busy for hours on end.
2. Art.
There’s something magical about bringing life to a blank canvas. Art as a hobby holds so many possibilities – you can work with pencils, oil paint, water paint, pastels, charcoal, or something even more creative. You can paint on paper, on a canvas, on a rock, wherever you please.

3. Scrapbooking.
Scrapbooking is fun for all ages. It’s not all about pretty pictures either, it can be about anything you want.
Collecting stamps, coins or other rarities is considered a hobby by many.
Even looking after a pet could be considered a hobby as is the case with Susan van Jaarsveld, who has a collection of spiders that keeps her busy. “You learn something everyday, and sometimes it is something you can apply in real life,” she said.
