No bail for Polokwane Cash in Transit Heist suspects

The suspects will reappear on 14 March for a bail application.

POLOKWANE – The three suspects arrested in Thursday, 2 March’s cash in transit heist appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Friday, 3 March and were all remanded in custody with no bail.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the four men were identified as: David Mokete (56), Jeffrey Maphaki (52) and Oscar Molokwane (34).

He says the following items were recovered:
– Two rifles with magazines.
–  Two pistols with magazines.
– 61 rounds of ammunition for both rifles and pistols.
– Five motor vehicles being three VW Polo’s , a BMW sedan and a Toyota Fortuner, of which, two were reported highjacked in Pretoria and Mpumalanga.
– Police two way radios.
– Police handcuffs.

Ngoepe says the origin of the other cars, items and firearms is still being determined as the investigations are still unfolding.

“The injured Security guards are still recuperating in hospital with serious injuries and police investigations are still continuing,” he said.
