Residents band together to give Philemon a home

Local business owners and residents of Seshego Zone 8 made a man's dream of owning his own home come true recently.

POLOKWANE – The community of Seshego Zone 8 came to the aid of Philemon Ngobeni in the form of a newly built, three bedroom house after he had been living in a small shack for years.

“My dream of owning a decent house has finally come true. I spent years squatting in this tiny shack. I am at a loss for words to say thank you to the community for their kindness. Living in the shack was especially troublesome during the rainy season as I was unable to sleep due to the many leaks it had. Now I am blessed to have a sturdy roof over my head,” Philemon told BONUS.

Ward 11 Councillor, Nomonde Shivhabu, thanked everyone who contributed to the building of the house.

“This shows good cooperation between the government and business people in the community. The request was made through the councillors who requested donations from business people and the community to assist us with this project that started in December. Through all the donations and hard work, the project only took three months to complete. We are elated to see Philemon owning a decent house and as a councillor I am blessed to have the ear of the community who listen when they hear of someone in need,” Nomonde said.

ANC Youth League (ANCYL) Ntombi Shope Branch Secretary, James Kgaphola, said they wanted to assist Philemon with a proper house.

“As a community we decided to do our part to help build a house for him and we thank everyone who helped us see this project to fruition,” he said.
