UPDATE: Mob justice in Grobler Street under control

Motorists are advised to avoid the area between Jorrisen and Devenish Streets in Biccard Street.

POLOKWANE – According to reports, a man was assaulted in another case of apparent mob justice. The man was stripped naked and is being led by a mob.

This is the third case of mob justice in two days.

The mob were seen walking up Grobler Street leading the naked man with them.

Polokwane Police spokesperson WO Lesiba Ramoshaba confirmed that a case of mob justice has occurred.

“The man was one of five men who were allegedly taken by force at their homestead in and around Mankweng area, assaulted and taken to the city,” he said.

He says the naked man was allegedly accused of stealing and was reportedly seen paraded naked along Biccard Street next to Frans Mohlala House. He was later rescued by police and sector police in the area.

The man was taken to hospital and the mob was dispersed.

“We can confirm that the situation is now calm and police are monitoring the area.” said Ramoshaba.

The motive for this incidence are unknown at this stage and no arrest have been made as yet.

Police investigations continue.
