Operation “Bontsha Mohlala-Lead by example” leads to the arrest of 39

The operation composed of commissioned officers from all police stations, clusters and the provincial level officers.

Under the Command of the Deputy Provincial Commissioner Policing Major General Jan Petrus Scheepers, the Provincial Joint Operation “Bontsha Mohlala–lead by example” was conducted yesterday in the Groblersdal and Makhado Clusters respectively.

The operation focused on problematic crimes such as trio crimes, property and contact crimes where raids, roadblocks and stop and searches were conducted including patrolling the crime infested areas.

It comprised of officers from the rank of Captain up to the rank of Major General with the sole objective of leading by example to all the non-commissioned officers.

Police spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the operation began with parades at the Groblersdal Rugby field and Watervaal Police Station and was successful with the following achievements made from both clusters :

Ngoepe says 39 suspects were arrested for various offences including:

– Eight for possession of dagga.

– Seven illegal immigrants.

– One for gambling.

– One for assault with grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.

– Three RTA summons were issued.

– 14 for drinking liquor in public.

– Four for possession of dagga.

– One for drunk driving.

– 222 motor vehicles were searched.

– 965 people were searched.

– 30 motor vehicles were circulated.

– Four houses were searched during a raid for illegal items.

– 40 x people were circulated.

– One concoction liquid mixture was confiscated.

Ngoepe says police investigations continue.

“All the arrested suspects will soon appear before the Groblersdal, Dennilton and Watervaal Magistrate Courts respectively,” he concluded.
