A combined charity project run by Limpopo Toyota Knights and Round Table 22 raised R25 000 in cash and other donations through the goodwill of shoppers at Mall of the North over the weekend.
One of the organisers, Nelmar Smit explained that shoppers were asked for a donation of R50 or non-perishables such as canned food and items needed by children. Smit confirmed the amount collected and said all of the money and the other items will be given to two long established welfare organisations in the city, Polokwane Child and Family Care Society and Ngwana Baby House.
Smit explained that the fundraising event was part of their Winter Nights project, one of a number of initiatives they’ve been running to help needy persons survive during the cold winter months. “We would like to challenge citizens to share the little they have with underprivileged people by supporting such initiatives. People who wish to donate can visit Limpopo Toyota where they will find a box on the display floor,” he said.
