Disteneng is being monitored, says Muni

Motorists are still advised to use alternative routes in the meantime.

POLOKWANE – The municipality says municipal law enforcement officers as well as South African Police Services are on scene in the area following this morning’s protests.

“The municipality and police will continue to monitor the area until normality is restored,” it said in a statement.

The municipality will be evacuating Disteneng illegal land invaders following a court order to vacate municipal land.

POLOKWANE – Nelson Mandela Drive between Legae La Batho robot & Ext 44 robot has been closed due to a protest.

According to information, Nelson Mandela Drive between Vermikuliet and Legae La Batho robot has been blocked since 02:00 this morning. The residents of Ext 78a (Disteneng) are allegedly protesting against Polokwane Municipality’s intention of demolishing their shacks.
