The celebration of one’s birthday usually comes with an expectation of receiving gifts, but Church On The Hill (Coth) Polokwane Senior Pastor Vusi Mashabane handed over school shoes to 12 learners of Boiketlo Primary School in Seshego at the church in Dalmada on the occasion of his birthday on Sunday.
Coth says in a media release that the relationship between the church and the school started when Coth Pastor Molatelo Mashabane celebrated her birthday with the learners at the school on 9 June this year, handing them sanitary towels and toiletry packs.
Learners who received school shoes come from underprivileged families. “It is heart warming to be able to make a difference in someone’s life and this is my small gesture towards brightening someone’s life,” Mashabane is quoted to have said.
Boiketlo Primary School Principal Charles Mojapelo reportedly said, “A big thank you for the kind gesture, you were indeed sent by God to our school to see these kids. The church has done something amazing for the kids and we are grateful to have started this relationship,” Mojapelo is quoted.
Coth Polokwane leaders, members and guests also received a gift in the form of a two-day Leadership Master Class by Moss Mashamaite that was presented at Dalmada over the weekend. According to Coth, Mashamaite is a graduate of the University of Limpopo, where he was an official orator, studied Engineering with Harcourt College and earned his PhD in International Business at Columbus University (USA). He is also the Group Chief Executive Officer of Moss and Moss Group with interests in Advertising, Publishing and Environmental Consulting.
“Mashamaite’s talk on ‘God’s word at the centre of the Church’ was aimed at empowerment for leadership in the church, business and various aspects of life. He encouraged the congregants to read the word of God, to have faith in it and to memorise it in order to understand and live according to the word,” the statement concludes.
