Women of differing ages crossed cultural barriers on Saturday to come together for a high tea with a fearlessly feminine theme.
Held at Meropa Casino and Entertainment Centre, the Women’s Day celebration afforded guests young and old the opportunity to be inspired by the words of organiser Katryn Celliers and a handful of speakers. The programme was hosted by Limpopo Beauty Modelling Academy.
On the speakers’ list was Charmaine Nkosi, Miss Humanity South Africa who would have jetted off to Barbados yesterday (Wednesday) on a 36-hour fight to represent her country at the international competition. During her motivational talk the young beauty queen shared brief snippets of her journey to win the title and encouraged women to follow their dreams. Accompanied by mom Sibongile, she thanked her mother for her continued support.

Vuuren speaks on the importance of hand and nail care.
Hendi Erwee of Revive @ Hendi conducted a talk on skincare, elaborating on skin types, conditions, problems and troubles which she individually addressed along with methods of treatment. Sun care was singled out as she addressed the dangers of damage and the need for protection from birth.
With her short message Elita Jansen van Vuuren of EL-Style based in Mokopane emphasised the importance of women creating first impressions by taking care of their hands and feet, stressing that one’s hands were one’s pride. Taking five minutes out not using them would contribute to appreciating one’s hands, she said.
Thereafter nineteen models wowed the audience with their own recycled creations each befitting a societal cause, varying from stopping violence against women and saving water, to autism awareness and awareness about childhood cancers. Participants showcased their (and their moms’) efforts with their approach to fashion by using different media that included empty water bottles, paper plates and news print. The winning titles for most original outfit and best ramp work went to Mathapelo Kekana and Washu Hlabioa respectively, with Wilita Lee and Paballo Selolo taking places for runners-up in the design category.
In between slots on the programme lucky draws secured give-aways galore, varying from beauty products to spa treatments.
Apart from Polokwane Observer being on board as print media sponsor, Meropa Casino and Entertainment World as venue host and the speakers representing their own concerns, other role players ensuring the success of the event were Land Rover and Jaguar, Sterling Productions, House of Asante Spa, Natural Living Spa & Wellness Centre, Forever Living skincare products, Alila Professional Makeup, Jonél Erasmus Hair and Makeup, Blush Princess, Licence & Registration Help and Function Hyper.
Attendance by guests was also linked to donations of sanitary packs for drop-in centres Ga-Maboi in Noboby area and Banaphele in Mankweng.
