Syndicate crackdown in Ladanna: suspects remanded in custody

The suspects have since been linked to more than six cases ranging from farm attacks, house robberies and business robberies in and around the city

POLOKWANE – Three of the four suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties, have appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and were remanded in custody to allow for further police investigations.

The four suspects were arrested after being pulled over in Blaauwberg Street, Ladanna on 20 October 2017.

“Up to now they have been linked to more than six cases ranging from farm attacks, house robberies and business robberies in and around the city,” said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The suspect will reappear before the same on 31 October for a formal bail application.

Police investigations continue.

POLOKWANE – Four suspects were arrested when a suspicious vehicle was pulled over in Blaauwberg Street.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says police believe they have cracked a possible crime syndicate in Ladanna.

The four suspects, between the ages of 20 and 45-years-old were arrested after a suspicious Toyota Tazz was spotted by police. 

“The car and it’s occupants were searched and cellphones and tablets, with the estimated value of R350 000 were confiscated,” Ngoepe explained.

The following items were confiscated:
– 40 tablets.
– 15 Blackberry smartphones.
– Six Sony smartphones.
– Three Microsoft smartphones.
– Five Hisense smartphones.
– Nine Huawei smartphones.
– 37 Nokia cellphones.
– 44 Samsung smartphones.
– Four iPhone’s.
– 44 unknown cellular phones.
– One bag full of scrap cellphones.

The suspects will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Monday, 23 October.

“This might be a syndicate where cellphones were robbed or stolen, but investigations will tell as they are still unfolding,” he concluded.
