LIMPOPO – According to Police spokesperson LT Col Moatshe Ngoepe, nine suspects traveling in a blue BMW (FX 96 XJ GP) hijacked a Golf GTI (FJ 80 YW GP) before storming a garage in the Phalaborwa CBD, heavily armed with pistols and AK47’s.
“The suspects ordered the employees, including security guards, to lie on the floor while they dug the safe out with a sharp object before blowing it up with explosives. During the process, two firearms belonging to the security guards were robbed and they fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money,” Ngoepe explained.
Police reacted swiftly and together with the security officers, found the BMW abandoned at a distance away from the scene.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the BMW involved in this matter was hijacked in Tzaneen before this robbery took place,” he said.
Anyone with information which may lead to the arrest of these suspects, may contact Brigadier James Espach at 082 576 0743; the crime stop number 0860010111; the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest police station.
