Kruinies achieve 100% matric pass rate yet again

Curro Heuwelkruin’s Gr 12 class of 2017 continued the tradition of 100% pass rate, set by the class of 2009.

POLOKWANE – Chief executive officer of the school, Eben Lingenfelder, said in a press release that not only did all learners pass, but all 32 qualified for tertiary education.

“The group achieved 66 subject distinctions which means an average of 2.06 distinctions per learner. The class average point is an excellent 70%. Twenty nine of the learners passed with admission to degree studies, while another three qualified for diploma studies.”

The following subjects with a subject average above 70%:

• Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL): 72%
• English First Additional Language (FAL): 74%
• Mathematical Literacy: 73%
• Life Orientation: 82%
• Engineering Graphics and Design: 73%
• Information Technology: 74%
• Visual Arts: 70%
• Dramatic Arts: 79%

“From the 32 learners, there are seven that brag with an A-average,” says Lingenfelder.

Chantelle Steyn was the top achiever, achieving distinctions in all seven her subjects.

• Afrikaans Home Language 86%,
• English FAL 89%,
• Mathematics 91%,
• Life Orientation 90%,
• Drama 87%,
• Life Sciences 85%
• Physical Sciences 86%

Safiyyah Vally achieve six distinction (Afrikaans (FAL), English Home Language, geography, life sciences, mathematics and physical sciences).

 

Luca Prenzler shortly on her heels with five distinctions (Afrikaans home language, English first additional language, drama, Information Technology and life sciences).

Leslie Greene, Ashleigh Hunter, Ndlali Ledwaba, Kamalan Naidoo and Armand Steyn each obtained four distinctions while Louw Claassens, Ruben Nieuwoudt and Eduard Rautenbach each obtained three distinctions.

Another five learners achieved two distinctions each and nine one each.
