Learners at Northview Christian School were recognised and awarded in different categories such as academics, sport, culture and Christian attributes during the school’s merit evening at Agape church recently.
Learners turned into Hollywood stars as camera flash lights were all that could be seen in the hall when parents wanted to capture every moment. The gathering was also used to announce the 2018 academic year prefects. Mosa Rankwe was named the head boy and he will be assisted by Neo Chigo as the deputy, Katlego Mahlalela is the head girl and her deputy is Mosa Sepuru.
Zirkia Walkenshaw, school Principal said the merit evening is a tradition at the school to recognise and honour those who performed exceptionally well throughout the year. She further said it was a great privilege for parents to witness as their children receive awards and the gathering was well attended.
In a message to the Grade 7 learners who will be joining different high schools this year, Walkenshaw urged them to continue working hard and follow the biblical principles to excel in their studies.
“I trust and believe that they will do their best because we taught them well. We are expecting about 60 new learners from Grade R to Grade 7 and we are looking forward to welcome them,” she stated and thanked educators for the job well done and encourage them start preparing for 2018 academic year.
Phillimon Rametse was named the Junior Athlete of the Year while Maphuti Ramokgopha received a prize for being the Senior Athlete of the Year. The 2018 prefects are: Moshadi Mokhiti, Mpho Phakwago, Moribula Pale, Karabo Mamabolo, Kamogelo Tisane, Lethabo Mahlase, Mamakgowa Matsuang, Tebogo Mokgosi, Karabo Sibanda, Katleho Maraba, Katlego Senwamadi, Tshibollo Matla, Thato Manganye, Thokozani Ramporo and Thato Mahlo.
