This year’s athletics season for independent schools in the Polokwane cluster started on a high note when Eagle’s Nest Christian School, Curro Heuwelkruin, Mitchell House, Elica Primary School, Jabez Christian Academy, North View Christian Academy, Akademie Reformia and Pepps Preparatory School met at the old Peter Mokaba stadium for the first Ironwood Athletics event of the year on Tuesday.
Hennie Combrink, Event Organiser and Headmaster at Akademie Reformia said the meeting created an opportunity for learners to show their fitness and talent in track and field events.
“This is a platform for them to shine and the beginning of a great sporting career. We want to produce athletes that will represent the province and eventually get national colours one day. We are happy with what we saw on the day and we are confident that we will come up a strong team for the upcoming Polokwane Cluster Athletics event,” Combrink said.
At the time of going to press the organising committee was still finalising the team and consolidating the results.
