Polokwane medical practice warns about job scam
A well-known doctors’ practice in the city has issued a warning to inform people that a poster posted at various places in the city advertising a vacancy at the practice, is fake
POLOKWANE – The A3 poster has been posted at the post office in Landdros Maré Street and has also been spotted at the municipal offices and at SARS. The fake advert states that Redimed needs an assistant to do secretarial and administrative work for eight doctors and also offers an attractive salary. There are a few spelling mistakes on the poster, and the address of the practice is not the correct address.
Should an interested person contact the number, the person is told to deposit R350 into a bank account for the opportunity to present their CV and to arrange for an interview for the job.
Sonya van den Heever, Practice Manager at Redimed, said she found the poster at the post office when she collected mail on Tuesday.
“The same thing happened around two years ago and people who deposited the money came to the practice and were very angry and demanded we paid their money back. They held us accountable for somebody else’s fraudulent actions. We will never advertise for a vacancy in such an unprofessional way. We work through agencies when we advertise.”

She said she immediately contacted the police and reported the scam. They have since told her that the said bank account has been closed.
Van den Heever asked that people take note and warn others not to fall for this scam.
