
POLOKWANE – According to municipal spokesperson, Disree Manyane, the temporary lane closure on Thabo Mbeki Street is part of planned infrastructure rehabilitation in preparation for the Leeto La Polokwane operations.

“The construction will continue for a period not exceeding six months and motorists are urged to exercise patience to avoid accidents. It will be finished by 15 December,” she said.

The structure of the street is being improved to make provision for Leeto La Polokwane buses to travel on. Once the two left lanes are completed, traffic will be diverted to the completed lanes and the rehabilitation will continue on the two right hand lanes.

Manyane says that assistance was requested from traffic officials to make sure motorists still abide by the law.
“We shall further communicate with them in order to make things easier for all road users. Before construction could take place, we made an effort to communicate with Capricorn High School to alleviate any congestion,” she explained.
