Kholo dreams of having her book in school libraries across the city
Author of Learning to Fly with Eagles, Kholofelo Kuaho (35) says her wish is to have her book on school library shelves for the benefit of the learners.
POLOKWANE – Author of Learning to Fly with Eagles, Kholofelo Kuaho (35) says she took several years to write down her feelings after her late friend, Lebogang Tladi suggested she write a book. “This was because I’d jot down scribbled stories and send them to her to read, and that’s how the idea came about,” Kholo said.
The book, aims to help one cope with troubles and Kholo says her wish is to have her book on school library shelves for the benefit of the learners. “My book is motivational and elaborates on turning negatives into positives, so it’s important for young learners to read such books in order to mold themselves for the future,” she added.

Kholo believes that learners will look at life differently after reading her book as it is also a guide for introspection. “I believe that when you reach high school, depression is common due to confusion of finding yourselves academically and otherwise, so my book is the perfect tool to help them in guiding them with introspection and to know who they are. My book stresses and focuses mostly on seeking the inner self,” she said.
Kholo adds that it took two years to get her book published. One year to write it and she spent the second year approaching publishers to get it edited and ready for publishing. “Books must be approved by the National Library of South Africa before publishing and my advice to aspiring authors/writers is to go for it 100 percent. Once you find your writing talent, follow it with all that you have, share your stories, you never know who might be interested,” she advised.
Kholo is planning on writing as many books as possible and is currently working on her second one. She adds that for as long as stories come, she’ll keep on writing. “One thing about being a writer is stories don’t come all the time, and when they do come, that is when you use that advantage and write as much as you can. In my case it happens in my sleep. I then wake up and jot down in that moment, otherwise I won’t remember when I wake up,” she said.
The subtitle of her book is ‘Overcoming adversity to be the best you possible.’
“My dad used to say “Nana, you must always be like an Eagle and fly above your peers and that’s was the inspiration for the name of my book,” Kholo added.
